How is it progressing?  Showing promise?  Just curious to see if all is falling into place for you this time.  Joe-JDC

Just to keep the FE's coming in, since my time is SLOW by most standards today.  Car had fiberglass hood, 10.5 x 29 x 15 slicks, 4.56 gears, TW with 660s, Ford D cam, adjustable rockers, lightweight valves.  Hooker Super Comp headers.  Alamo Dragway, San Antonio, TX.  Joe-JDC

FE engine dyno test info and engine build information / FE dyno testing?
« on: January 26, 2015, 05:55:46 PM »
When are we going to see more duplicatable engine combinations?  Anything north of 700?  What would it take to break 800?  900?  NA1000?  Joe-JDC

With permission:  I acquired a set of the BBM aluminum heads for the FE, and did a cursory valve job on a Serdi with multi-angle seats, back cut intake valve of 2.080", and custom radius exhaust seat with 45* valve face for a 1.600" exhaust valve.  I went with these sizes to start off the flow expectation from smallest to larger on later tests.  The guides were so hard that they had to be honed to size, since a reamer would not work well with the hardness.  It took nearly 2 hours just to hone the guides to size for the 11/32 valve stems.  Here are the flow values for the initial testing of completely stock ports.

Intake
.100      63.98
.200     136.09
.300     207.18
.400     234.61

Exhaust

.500     166.84
.550     173.32
.600     178.18
.650     181.42
.700     183.69
.750     184.66/2" pipe 200.86

Super Flo 600 #6729 @ 28" 70* 38% Humidity in airconditioned room, calibration check completed.  The valve seats were proud in several ports, and the flow was noisy at low lifts.  I am sure the exhaust will come up with larger size valves, as will the intake.  This was just a preliminary test as cast with CJ size intake valve and a slightly larger exhaust valve than a standard 390.  I will be testing with 2.100/1.660 next as time permits, and ultimately 2.190/1.710, and then fully hand ported.  Since many have followed different heads' flow sheets over the last several years, it will be interesting to compare on the same machine with same operator, and same porter.  As always, I just post what I get on my machine as truthfully as possible and under as similiar circumstances as possible.   Joe-JDC

I am building a 468FE with 4.250" bore and 4.125" stroke and 6.800" rods.  Ported my Survival heads with 2.200"/1.710" 11/32" stem valves.  Turned out nice, and without increasing the intake port volumn much.

.100       76.78        53.62
.200     143.92     108.70
.300     207.78     161.98
.400     270.08     202.48
.450     291.91     217.06
.500     309.73     226.78
.550     316.42     233.26
.600     325.33     239.74
.650     334.24     244.60
.700     343.16     248.81
.750     345.83     250.75/272.13
.800     350.29     250.75/272.13/2"pipe

Flowed at 28" on SF-600 4-28-2014.  One of the best FE heads to be hand ported I have flowed in a while.  I am looking forward to getting this one on the dyno one day soon.  Joe-JDC

FE Engine Tech Topics / EMC FE data?
« on: October 08, 2013, 02:59:45 PM »
Good Luck with the EMC entry.  Do you feel the EFI is stronger than a carb on your combination?  Better torque?  Was it easy to dial in?  Have you tried 2 EFIs on a 8V intake?  Hope to hear that you did well.  Joe-JDC.

FE Engine Tech Topics / Flow update on Barry's Heads
« on: April 13, 2013, 10:42:39 PM »
Flow on Barry's heads is a work in progress, but I can tell you that I am almost finished with a pair of heads for a forum member "down under", and the heads went 310 @ .500", 320 @ .550", 330 @ .600, 339 @ .650", and 346 @ .700", and the exhaust flows 225cfm at .600" and with a 2 inch pipe goes 254cfm.  Joe-JDC.
