I had 427 with 428 crank 20 over making it a 454 . Cylinder heads were c3ae-j, I know they are stock heads but I don't know if it was just the right combination or what but boy it honked 11.49@117 and change. Compression was stock 11.6 and the heads and block were shaved 6 thousands a piece don't know exactly what that comes to I tell people 11.8 to 1, cam was lunatis  smallest race cam in catalogue 290 298. 593 598  108 lobe.   Rpm band  3800-7200  I shifted at 6700 didn't make any power above that.  Would have liked to put the survivals on that motor to see the difference. I am also running stock low riser 2x4 intake with twin 600 never had a problem yet great throttle response no hesitations

Out of all your choices I would wait for Barry or Blair I happen to have survivals and although my car is away for the winter and only have about 400 miles on new motor, I think the heads are doing there job. I went down on compression by a point and went about two sizes smaller on cam and I got on it one time before I put it away and it feels good so I am imagining that it's the extra HP from the heads

New Engine build

Hey Barry
I am trying to build an engine for my 64 Fairlane, it's manual transmission, 461 inch. short block with SRP 28cc dish pistons. I have a choice of 2X4 tunnel wedge dove manifold or a 2x4 360 offen. manifold I would like to get some input on heads and camshaft. 1 I can get ahold of the cnc promaxx heads ready to bolt on for 2100  2 I can get some dove h ports bare for 2000. 3 Another option is a set of canadian doves ready to bolt on for 1300. 4 Blair Patrick offered the bbm's for about 3100 with small hand port ready to bolt on. 5 I can wait on the survivals. and last I can put my ported cast Cobra Jet heads back on. I have not bought or decided on camshaft size or style so I am open to anything. I would have liked to make 600 H.P. but as I have been told my engine is probably to small. What is your advise or recipe for this street racer, cruising machine.
